Innovation in Social Enterprise Workshop

Updated: Aug 19, 2019

I attended this excellent workshop in Oxford on 9th July. We considered the changing face of the UK and how all social organisations need to continually change if they are to continue to meet the many and varied needs of society.

With a mixture of formal input and small group work we explored the need for innovation to be both harnessed and driven by social enterprises. There was a particular focus on sustainability, using several expressions of its three strands as shown below.

We also looked at one of my favourite themes - the blurring of boundaries between charities, social enterprises and businesses, reflecting on the question whether or not businesses that ignore their social responsibilities have a long-term future or not? I met some great people at the workshop and left it better informed, inspired and challenged!
